Savor in the impressive capital of Bavaria in Germany, the city of Munich. Embark on a cruise journey where you will get to uncover the picturesque part of the Danube river and Wachau Valley while immersing in the fascinating scenery at the very heart of Europe.
DAY 01- PRAGUE
Upon arrival at the “Golden” city of Prague, you will be transferred to your hotel, and you are free to tour the city on your own for the rest the day. Prague is considered one of Europe’s most attractive cities and its city center has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
DAY 02- PRAGUE (B)
We will begin the day with our walking tour of Prague to the picturesque Lesser Town (Malá Strana), famous with its ancient burgher houses and quaint side streets. Enjoy breathtaking views as you cross the Charles Bridge, one of Europe’s oldest stone bridges, to the Old Town, the medieval center of Prague. Explore the cobbled streets around Old Town Square and stroll into the Jewish Quarter, once the largest Jewish ghetto in Europe. View the white stucco St. Nicholas Church, the world-famous Astronomical Clock and the Town Hall. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Optional activity in the afternoon: Tour to the Prague Castle located on the hilltop in the center of the town, former residence of Bohemian Kings and to the magnificent St. Vitus Cathedral, where Kings were crowned and battles were fought. Experience spectacular vistas of the entire city below.
DAY 03- PRAGUE (B)
Day at leisure. You have the entire day to explore the amazing downtown of Prague. In the evening you will opportunity to see this old town ablaze with lights on a 2-hour tour by coach (optional activity). View UNESCO-listed Prague Castle, the Charles Bridge, National Bridge and other top Prague attractions illuminated against the night sky as you listen to informative commentary from your local guide. Finish at the Krizik’s Fountain and watch a stunning show with multi-colored laser lights, jets and cascades as they dance to classical, pop and musical theater tunes.
DAY 04- LINZ (B, D)
In the morning after breakfast and check-out from our hotel, we will leave Prague and travel to Linz, Austrian town on the Danube-river where your river-ship is docked. Around lunchtime we will stop at Cesky Krumlov, the UNESCO-listed medieval town. Be prepared to be indulged in the splendor of the 16th-century town subtly lurking upon the Vitava river. Visit the monumental chateau and its majestic garden that combines the elements of English parks and French royal gardens. Stroll through the petite labyrinth of a town that is impossible to get lost. Board your river-ship in the late afternoon in Linz and then depart on cruise to Vienna. Dinner and evening is served on board.
DAY 05- VIENNA (B, L, D)
Arrival in Vienna in the morning. Visit the stunning Schönbrunn Palace, the summer residence of the imperial family. In the afternoon, tour the impressive Hofburg Palace, with its sumptuous imperial apartments and the crown jewels in its Imperial Treasury. We will sail to Budapest by night.
DAY 06- BUDAPEST (B, L, D)
Free time on board in the morning. In the afternoon, arrive at Budapest and embark on a historic tour about this two-thousand-year-old. Budapest, known as the “Belle Époque city par excellence,” is the incarnation of the sharp contrast between twin cities divided by the Danube, yet united since 1872. Evening Event: "operetta music" on board.
DAY 07- BUDAPEST – THE PUSZTA (B, L, D)
Excursion to the Puszta (without lunch). Also called the Great Plain in the 19th century, Pustzta was once a vast prairie situated in the wild west of Hungary. Be charmed by the herds of livestock grazed here under the watchful eye of cowboys. Departure of the boat in the end of the evening.
DAY 08- BRATISLAVA (B, L, D)
Spend time sailing to Bratislava in the morning. In the afternoon, enjoy a tour of Bratislava. The charm of the Slovakian capital lies in its old city with splendid baroque palaces, churches and pleasant squares. Continue cruising toward Durnstein. Event: Gala evening and Crew show onboard. Sailing during the night.
DAY 09- DURNSTEIN–MELK (B, L, D)
Discovery of Dürnstein with the ship’s crew escort. Famous for its King Richard the Lionhearted legend and its glittering light blue abbey, Dürnstein has one of the most beautiful baroque bell towers in Austria. Continue sailing toward Melk through the wonderful Wachau Valley, where you get to witness the Gothic ruins alternating with picturesque villages. In the afternoon, arrival in Melk and guided tour of the Benedictine Abbey of Melk. Continue cruising toward Linz.
DAY 10- SALZBURG–MUNICH (B)
Early arrival in Linz. Buffet breakfast on board. Disembark in the morning. We board the coach and leave for Munich, Germany. On the way we will stop at the magical Salzburg, the birthplace of Mozart. A guided walking tour takes you to the house where Mozart was born, as well as to the squares and gardens of this beautiful city, crowned by the 11th century Hohensalzburg Fortress. The city, also known as home of the singing Von Trapp family, was the setting for the Sound of Music film. Later, head for the Bavarian capital, Munich.
The orientation city tour of Munich begins in the afternoon with a drive past the Olympic Stadium situated in the heart of Olympia Park, the main venue for the 1972 Summer Olympics. On to breathtaking Nymphenburg Palace and Park, with its gorgeous baroque façade and once the summer residence of the rulers of Bavaria. Driving through the city, you will see countless museums, galleries, palaces and historic monuments. Arrive at Marienplatz Square, cultural center of the city, dominated by Munich's world-famous Glockenspiel since 1908. This colorful mechanical clock has life-size figures that dance to music with shows several times a day.
DAY 11- MUNICH (B)
After breakfast, we will check out and transfer you to the Munich airport for the flight back home.
