Tours
Here are our Words of Advice for all travelers:
It is advisable not to overpack for your trip as each individual is responsible for carrying their own luggage. To ensure convenience and light packing for transporting your luggage, include the following important items in addition to clothing, shoes, and (essential) toiletries in your luggage:
- General Suggestions
-
-We advise all tour participants to carry a little cash in addition to their ATM card. Please contact your tour leader and/or us beforehand to let you know how much spending money to bring along.
-
-Bring along a cheap digital camera, one that does not ruin your day if you lose it.
-
-Have an extra pair of prescription glasses and/or contact lenses in case of loss or damage.
-
-Wear a waterproof, cheap watch and do not wear or carry expensive jewelry. Expensive items can potentially make you a target for thieves.
-
-Pack a simple first-aid kit, including adhesive bandages, first aid or anti-biotic cream, and pain relievers, etc.
-
-Keep any prescription medication in its original container, and have a photocopy of all current prescriptions. Also, make sure your tour leader is aware of any medications you are taking.
-
-Make sure you understand the tour leader's rules for cell phone use before bringing your cell phone.
-
-Traveling by bus or air can or may sometimes be long and tedious, so bring along an MP3 player with headphones.
-
-Pack a lightweight journal or notebook, and pen or pencil to record memories of your experience.
-
-Bring along a rain poncho or a fold-up umbrella just in case
-
-Make sure to bring along all accessories or necessities related to your chosen tour supplements or any extra tour activities that you are opt-in
- Suggestions for Air Travel
-
-Pack all valuables, medications, travel documents, and tour/trip related information in your carry-on bag.
-
-Bear in mind the 3-1-1 rule for carry-ons: 3 ounce bottles or less; 1 quart sized, clear plastic, zip top bag; 1 bag per passenger placed in the screening bin.
-
-Do not lock your luggage since it must be accessible for inspection.
-
-Clearly identify your luggage with your name and address, but use covered tags so strangers can not easily see your contact information.
-
-Avoid putting on accessories or items containing metal.
-
-New security measures can cause delays at airports. Make sure to arrive well in advance of your departure time.
-
-As always, visit www.tsa.gov for the latest air regulations before you pack.
- Suggestions for International Travel
-
-Apply early enough for your passport and any visas you may need. Make sure to fill out the emergency contact section of your passport before you leave.
-
-Carry photocopies of your airline tickets, passport, and visas with you, but separate from the originals.
-
-It is advisable to email yourself a PDF of your passport so you can access it online while you are abroad.
